Choc-full of spiralised veg, sick of squats, and had your fill of non-alcoholic beverages? Chocs For Chance is an annual initiative whose proceeds do good, and whose lots taste great. The idea is simple – an online auction allows you to bid upon bespoke boxes of chocolates created by the country’s hottest chefs, chocolatiers and pastry maestros. Proceeds go to Galvin’s Chance, a disadvantaged youngsters’ work programme masterminded by Michelin-starred chef Chris Galvin and Fred Sirieix; the Galvin at Windows’ GM who moonlights as Cupid on Channel 4’s First Dates.

43 lots should mean a lot of forthcoming funds – indeed, over its three-year history, Chocs For Chance has raised an impressive £15k, enabling Galvin’s Chance to help half-a-dozen individuals into professional hospitality careers.

With this year’s line-up spanning the spectrum from experimental chefs like The Modern Pantry’s Anna Hansen and The Fat Duck’s Heston Blumenthal, to more classic cooks such as Quo Vadis’s Jeremy Lee and Belmond Le Manoir’s Raymond Blanc, to award-winning chocolatiers Matthieu de Gottal, Paul a Young, and young upstart Zara Snell, choosing who to back with your bid is no mean feat. But fear not: it’s a sure bet that every single box will be all killer, no filler.

As always, the auction is timed so the chocolates will be delivered in time for Valentine’s Day; giving anyone looking to use their winning bid as an opportunity to win someone’s heart the very best chance of success.
